Under Glass, coupled with his first two historical novels, Apple Blossoms and Frog Gigging, completes the trilogy based upon the life and experiences of ancestors during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Under Glass begins in the nineteenth century to follow the movements of the Adams, Faulkner, Kays and McIlroy families into Arkansas. The book then concentrates on the first forty years of the twentieth century, using letters written by Joe Faulkner during the first world war, diaries written by Norma Ball during the roaring twenties, and oral history during the great depression and dust bowl days in the southwest.

Dr. J. Alan Adams is the co-author of three engineering textbooks. He holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. He obtained a BSME degree from the University of Arkansas, as well as a MSME and PhD degrees from Purdue University. He served active duty in the U.S. Air Force for three years as an officer in the Air Defense Command. He currently resides in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife. Under Glass is his third novel.
