Five young Americans serve to help France restore its sovereignty with the defeat of the German invaders. Francis Clark is an idealistic flyer in the Army Air Corps after having helped Major Billy Mitchell win his wings. An encounter with the Red Baron establishes his credentials and he soon becomes an Air Ace. His sister, Catherine Clark, and Marie Lackly feel compelled to help and they become stationed at the Gas Hospital near the front lines as nurses. Timmy and Eddie Freis are drafted into the 80th Division and serve with distinction until being wounded. All of their paths will eventually cross and culiminate with a marriage between two of them at war’s end.
